Abstract Algebra Is Hard

Abstract algebra is a proof heavy course but the difficulty mainly lies in the abstractness understanding the concepts.

However one of the major problems in teaching an abstract algebra course is that for many students it is their first encounter with an envi ronment that requires them to do rigorous proofs. Such students often find it hard to see the use of learning to prove theorems and propositions.

Would i be lost in abstract algebra without taking linear algebra first. My advice is that you first need to understand what abstract algebra is about. And i took abstract algebra after doing analysis and topology so by anyones standards it would have been easy by comparison. Straight forward sentences but difficult core information with splendid delivering sentences.

I attribute my success as a math major to two things. The most important of these structures are groups rings and fields. Of course it depends on how well you can understand abstract concepts and. I know most physics students that dont like pure mathematics.

Abstract algebra is the set of advanced topics of algebra that deal with abstract algebraic structures rather than the usual number systems. Although i took another graduate level one using dummit and foote and although i did really well it wasnt easy lots of hard problems.
